I’ve read a lot about developing a relationship with our dogs and the Wisteria Goldens Blog explores this topic often. I’ve considered myself able to make a connection with people and pets. I haven’t experienced problematic pet relationships. So, I wasn’t in a rush at first, when you (Billy and Debbie Franklin at Wisteria Goldens Ranch) suggested the book “If a Dog’s Prayers Were Answered, Bones Would Rain from the Sky: Deepening Our Relationships with Dogs” by Suzanne Clothier.

In summary, there hasn’t been another book with as much detail about the intrinsic communication process of relationship building. Reading this book guided me to a new level of connection with the dog in my care, and, has taught me profound life lessons I will carry with me to enhance every aspect of my life. As Suzanne Clothier tells of her experiences, as she explores the deepening of relationships, and she opens a heart-to-heart connection with her own and her client’s pets, the lessons she learns resonate with our own experiences. The lessons somehow shifted my awareness and the attention I noticed developing as I read (over a few evenings) and walked through my days discovering I had been changed.

This new discovery, Clothier’s book and the way it touched and reformed my heart and mind, will forever be remembered as a turning point in my own relationship with all animals and most assuredly with people as well.

Thank you! Thank you for suggesting Suzanne Clothier’s book! This is a gift which will touch my life and the lives of anyone I am in a relationship with forevermore.

We would like to suggest you read it as well. As you read this book you will realize it isn’t a ‘step by step’ training book. It is actually a guide to listening to your dog’s mind and heart. By learning to listen at a deeper level you create a space, an opportunity, to discover the deeper relationship connection possibilities.  You will discover (as Deb did, as we did) there has always been something more, a profound deepening of life and communication (often without audible words), and somehow you have yearned for it, but weren’t able to open the door to the process.

Imagine our pets, just as our people friends, have a dynamic, soulful, and amazing level of communication they are longing to connect with us, at the heart-to-heart level, which they may have abandoned hope for simply because no one has been listening.

This book will take you beyond the seeming boundaries of relationship into a realm you may have always known was there but weren’t convinced it was an actual possibility. There waits another world in the heart of our dogs waiting for us to listen awhile. That is where the ‘magic’ begins and the relationship development process matters most.
