Wisteria Tails Newsletter Online Version of the August 26, 2023 newsletter/digestWisteria Tails August 27 (08-27-2023)

Online Version Wisteria Tails August 27. Where did the summer go? I just realized our last newsletter was at the end of July. Life has been full for the previous few months. We are training, the heat here is miserable, and Heather and I have an upcoming mom-and-daughter trip. We’ve celebrated birthdays and anniversaries and worked through family health challenges.

With the weather still being miserably hot, we’ve been doing socialization and leash training at the nearby Tractor Supply. A twenty-minute car ride there and back, meeting strangers, introducing new things, and walking nicely on a leash = multitasking training at its best.

Check out our Facebook or Instagram pages on the videos we’ve been doing on the pups with their training.

Due to a unique situation with our females coming into heat at once, we have some extra “toddler” puppies we don’t usually have. This temporary scenario has allowed us to adjust our pricing to account for not completing the night crate training, so we have accommodated that pricing to reflect this.
We have some puppies we have moved to our “Trained Puppy” page. These are at a higher price point with more hours of training.
We have the other pups at a lower price point, as they have fewer training hours but still benefit from daily one-on-one and group sessions. They are priced and still offer great potential for continued training.
These are the commands we’ve been working on:
  • Sit
  • Manning (which is when they come and sit in front of us nicely to be petted or want something)
  • Off
  • Down
  • Leash
  • Wait
  • Recall
  • Leave it
All the puppies consistently use a doggie door and are fully vaccinated, including Rabies. They’ve had two wellness checks and will have a final vet check before leaving for their new home.

This summer has included my mother-in-law falling and breaking her hip, my dad being in the hospital with complications from his leukemia, and my 2nd mom having back surgery. My mother-in-law and dad are doing well again. My 2nd mom is still recovering but on the mend.

It has taken all of us working together and having the extra hands. Reese, Saneille, Misty, and Jill have all been a tremendous help with cleaning, feeding, and working with pups. Landon, Parker, and Jax have also been a great help with feeding, playing with pups, and keeping the lawn mowed and weed-eated.

Can you believe our puppy helper, Jax, is now 12 years old? Once things settle down, I have some videos I would like to put together to show him from three years of age to now helping and interacting with the puppies. He is so good at working with them, and it’s been fun watching him grow up and expand his skills.

Heather, my 2nd mom, and I have been planning a trip to Italy for over a year. We weren’t supposed to have pups during this time; if we did, they would be very young. Things have yet to work out as planned. My 2nd mom is recovering from surgery and can no longer travel. Having “toddlers,” we considered canceling our trip. However, we decided to go ahead as planned because “we are never promised tomorrow.”

We will be gone most of September. We are so excited, yet we have never left things for this long without either of us here, so we’re a bit nervous about it, too. We know we are leaving everything with people we love and trust to take care of things. Our team is all scheduled and can always contact us while we are gone.

Rhys and I have a trip planned to meet the family getting Ollie, and Billy and I are going on another one a few days later to meet a couple more families. The next day, Heather and I are off for our trip.

Heather and I started an Instagram account a few years ago to share our travel adventures, and then covid hit. We didn’t continue with it after that, so we will revise and post pictures there if you want to share in our Italy adventure.

We will connect again in October! Here is to cooler weather, fall leaves, and pumpkin spice for those that enjoy it.

Until next time,
