A mobility service dog can be helpful in so many situations. This post is about a service dog who has been helpful for her owner’s mobility. Most often called a ‘Balance’ dog because she is trained to help her owner to balance during walking, standing up, and moving from room to room.
The service dog in the following video helps her owner to enjoy outdoor activities she would otherwise be unable to enjoy. The owner and dog work as a team to enjoy mobility.
Mobility Service Dog Choosing a Breed
Choosing a breed to provide balance and mobility can be as easy as looking at breed strength and weight. The weight of the dog should be roughly 50% or more of the person who needs assistance. This varies by breed and isn’t the only factor to consider.
Mobility Service Dog Training
Once you choose a dog you will then want to choose a trainer to prepare your dog for a life of service. The list of training objectives will vary greatly depending on the assistance needed. Start by making a list of the limitations you would like a service dog to help you overcome and provide this list to your Service Dog Trainer.
