Trained English Cream Golden Retriever Puppies for Sale
We work with each individual puppy on the following commands: Sit, Down, On, Off, Right Here, Kennel, Let's Go, and This Way in order to build a foundation for becoming a trained puppy. We work on walking nicely on a leash providing us with a loose leash, spending time in the crate, and socialization and introduction to strange objects like boxes, trash cans, umbrellas…
Puppies are also introduced to: Wait (at the door), and Stay. Puppies are started on manners that include not jumping up on people, not chewing on our hands… Many of our Golden Retriever puppies love to play fetch and they are introduced to learning “proper” fetch (get it, bring it, give it.)
Clicker and (treats) are used during the training process and then faded out and just commands are used.
They are familiar with the grooming table and being groomed: brushed, nails trimmed, and having ears cleaned.
We work on the housebreaking process, and none of them have had an accident in the house in a few weeks, as long as they are taken out on a consistent, routine basis by the time they go to their new family.
These puppies are considered — STARTED on training — While puppies do well with all the above commands, they will need continued training in order to “master” the commands. At this young age, they can have lapses and set backs. Puppies are like children in having short attention spans and need continual reinforcement of commands, consistent, patience and love.
It is important to remember that puppies do not all learn at the same level and some will be more proficient with their training than others. Puppies also have different personalities and some love to learn and others are a bit lazy and take longer to work with. How much training and the depth of mastering achieved is based on the age and individual puppy and they are priced accordingly.
We will provide a video showing where they are with their training, a list of commands we have used, and clicker training DVD's to help you continue with their education and training.

Charlie is looking for a new home. Charlie went to his first family at 8 weeks of age. He wasn't a good fit for their family with a young baby. He came back to the ranch and another family wanted to make him their own. Again, Charlie wasn't what they were looking for.
What is wrong with Charlie? Nothing! Charlie is a sweet boy. He is affectionate, kind, and gentle. Charlie thinks he is a lap dog, pouts when he realizes he isn't, is very expressive with his eyes, and has his quirks. He enjoys whip cream, playing with our grandsons, running outside, hanging out with us indoors, loves food (oh boy he loves food)
Charlie doesn't like cardboard boxes or trash bags — he does think they are ok when food is in them. He can be uncomfortable with new things, but VERY food motivated. Charlie works hard once he knows you and trusts you. He needs someone who is looking to bond and make him their friend. He needs patience, trust, and the ability to develop a long term relationship with. Charlie needs someone that doesn't have expectations of who he isn't and willing to embrace him where he is and allow him to grow into HIS potential.
Charlie has gone on road trips with us, rode in elevators, and spent several nights in hotel rooms. While he doesn't enjoy the elevator, he will willing join us knowing we would never ask him to do anything that would bring him harm. He is not only a handsome boy, but would make the right person a wonderful faithful companion. He is ready for his new home now. $4950
Here is a short video giving a glimpse of who he is:
Sebastian (Harmony/Ego) is doing terrific. He has settled in and is very comfortable in his new home. We are working on his commands and he is doing very well. He follows us everywhere, but prefers that we are in the same room so he can be with both of us at the same time. He is mellow and very loving. He went to the vet Wednesday and is completely healthy. He is 48#. We are truly blessed to have him as part of our family. D & K
Baxter (Rory/Buddy) is awesome! He ate and drank and responds well to ‘baited’ commands, exactly as you said. I let him roam around the house to get familiar with all the new surroundings. He went potty outside and then we came in an discovered the big basket of toys. He is a love! He follows me everywhere I go and give kisses for a treat. He has just fallen asleep in his new crate with a toy or two. Thank you again and Melissa for such great preparation. The entire experience was better than I could have imagined from start to welcoming Baxter to his new home. I will send pictures as soon as Baxter stays still for a minute! I’m in love already!
P.S. Melissa and anyone who contributed to Baxter’s training did an awesome job – Baxter sits, shakes, rolls over, and is starting to sit at the front door when he needs to go outside for potty. Amazing. I have enrolled him (us) in a training course that starts later this month to continue what is an obvious great beginning. I wish I got two of them! Read more about Baxter…
Puppy Prep Academy
Our training program for our English Cream Golden Retriever puppies has been a huge success!
Baxter is just as happy go lucky as a good little boy could be! HE is always smiling!!! We are starting advanced training next Sunday for eight weeks and then the “Canine College” for eight weeks. He is the absolute best behaved dog in the class. There are four other dogs (all around Baxter's age) that are going through the next two courses with Baxter and I – he has a lot of good friends! ~TF, Florida Again, thank you for such a great start with Baxter; he is amazing!
Here at Wisteria Goldens we were hearing from families that wanted a puppy, but not necessarily all the events which come with getting a new puppy; crate training, leash training, basic commands…
So, we designed a unique training program exclusively for our families, to help puppies make the transition from leaving our home, to going to yours. What we discovered is a puppy introduced to the training process here with us gives them a great foundation for continued training once they are with you.
Our training program has been so successful that many families are requesting we keep their puppy longer before coming to their home.
All our puppies are raised using our Developmental Puppy Program, and our training programs are designed to continue and further develop their training.
The number of puppies attending prep school at the same time is limited in order to maximize each individual puppy’s time with the trainer. Early enrollment is recommended.
We have put together a few different options to fit the different needs families are looking for:
Introduction to “Formal” Training: (8 – 10 weeks old $500 Weekly with a Minimum of Two Weeks)
This program includes an introduction to:
- Familiar with and knows name
- Crate Training and Housebreaking
- Introduced to treats and following “baited” commands
- Introduced to basic commands (verbally & hand-signals) sit, down, up, off
- Introduced to collar/leash and walking on the leash
- Vaccinations required
- Basic grooming: bathing, brushing, ear cleaning, nails trimmed
This training program continues from our Developmental Puppy Program and transitions your puppy from life away from littermates to the human family environment. This training program introduces basic manners, the potty/crate training process, establishes a routine for the puppy, introduction to basic commands, and builds a solid foundation for continued training after going home with you. It is perfect for families that want a head-start on the training process. This is an introductory program only and is not for anyone that wants a completely trained puppy. Crate training and commands will not be “mastered” at this age.
Puppies will still require a great deal of attention to continued potty training, commands, good manners, and establishing a routine.
My husband and I are so happy with her, she is such a gentle dog, very well behaved, good listener…perfect fit for our family. The kids are in love. We could not be more thrilled at how well she has come into our home and just fit right in. She's only been her a few hours and we are just in awe of her. She's absolutely perfect. ~ SF, Pennsylvania
Basic “Formal Training”: (8 – 12 Weeks Old – $2,000)
- 8 – 10 week old training, plus
- Continued crate training, sleeping all night in the crate
- Leash walking
- Traveling in the car
- Vaccinations required
- Continued development of basic commands; sit, down, up, off, kennel…
- Introduction to commands: let’s go, this way, easy, leave it, wait, come, right here, “uh uh”, good, and yes.
This training program continues the basic training and introduces more basic commands. The puppy should be comfortable on the grooming table, being groomed & having ears cleaned, go into the crate quietly, and be very solid with “rewarded” commands. Your puppy should be starting to associate hand signals with the commands and walking nicely on leash and respond to que's outside during walks.
This program is for families who work outside the home during the day or very busy families. The puppies who have completed our 4 week training program are through some of the initial puppy stage and because they have developed more skills and have more training are more focused and responsive to what is being asked of them. This training provides more practice to develop consistent results with basic training commands. This training provides a good solid start to their puppy's training.
Please note: It is not possible for a puppy to be 100% reliably house-trained until they are fully matured, which is approximately 6 to 8 months. Accidents though should be minimal.
All programs include weekly update via email, pictures, ongoing vet care, worming, and any required vaccinations while in our care. Your puppy will come home with a video detailing the training process with your individual puppy, and instructions to continue the training process with your puppy. The 8 to 12 week training program also includes a collar, leash, crate and crate liner.
*if shipping your puppy the shipping costs will be reduced by $75.00
