Our training program for our English Cream Golden Retriever puppies has been a huge success!
Baxter is just as happy go lucky as a good little boy could be! HE is always smiling!!! We are starting advanced training next Sunday for eight weeks and then the “Canine College” for eight weeks. He is the absolute best behaved dog in the class. There are four other dogs (all around Baxter’s age) that are going through the next two courses with Baxter and I – he has a lot of good friends! ~TF, Florida Again, thank you for such a great start with Baxter; he is amazing!
Here at Wisteria Goldens we were hearing from families that wanted a puppy, but not necessarily all the events which come with getting a new puppy; crate training, leash training, basic commands…
So, we designed a unique training program exclusively for our families, to help puppies make the transition from leaving our home, to going to yours. What we discovered is a puppy introduced to the training process here with us gives them a great foundation for continued training once they are with you.
Our training program has been so successful that many families are requesting we keep their puppy longer before coming to their home.

All our puppies are raised using our Developmental Puppy Program, and our training programs are designed to continue and further develop their training.
The number of puppies attending prep school at the same time is limited in order to maximize each individual puppy’s time with the trainer. Early enrollment is recommended.
We have put together a few different options to fit the different needs families are looking for:
Introduction to “Formal” Training: (8 – 10 weeks old $500)
- Familiar with and knows name
- Crate Training and Using a Doggy Door
- Introduced to treats and following “baited” commands
- Introduced to basic commands (verbally & hand-signals) sit, down, up, off, shake
- Introduced to collar/leash and walking on the leash
- Vaccinations required
- Basic grooming: bathing, brushing, ear cleaning, nails trimmed
This training program introduces your puppy to the training process and becoming comfortable with the crate, commands, and builds a solid foundation for continued training after going home with you. It is perfect for families that want a head-start on the training process. This is an introductory program only and is not for anyone that wants a completely trained puppy. Crate training and commands will not be “mastered” at this age.

Basic “Formal” Training: (8 – 12 Weeks Old – $1,000)
- 8 – 10 week old training, plus
- Continued crate training, sleeping all night in the crate
- Housetraining
- Leash walking
- Traveling in the car
- Vaccinations required
- Continued development of basic commands; sit, down, up, off, shake.
- Introduction to commands: let’s go, this way, easy, leave it, wait, come, right here, “uh uh”, good, and yes.
This training program continues the basic training and introduces more advanced commands. The puppy should be comfortable on the grooming table, being groomed & having ears cleaned, go into the crate quietly, and be very solid with “rewarded” commands. Your puppy should be starting to associate hand signals with the commands and walking nicely on leash and respond to que’s outside during walks.
This program is for families who work outside the home during the day or very busy families. The puppies who have gone through our 4 week training program are through some of the initial puppy stage and because they have developed more skills and have more training are more focused and responsive to what is being asked of them. This training provides a good solid start to their puppy’s training.
Home with Trainer: $450 per week (Limited Availability)
All programs include weekly update via email, pictures, training supplies, and ongoing vet care, worming, and any required vaccinations while in our care. Your puppy will come home with a video detailing the training process with your individual puppy, and instructions to continue the training process with your puppy. The training program also includes a collar, leash, crate and crate liner.
