Poem in Memory of “Buddy”

One of the newest members of the Wisteria Golden family lost their beloved Golden Retriever, Buddy.   Tom came to us looking for a new family member to add to his empty home.  He recently shared a beautiful poem that his vet had given him when he lost his Golden friend.   I loved it so much, I asked him if I could share it with all of you.  We lost our Sadie girl a few months ago — she sure is missed — so in memory of Buddy, and all the families that have lost a “furry” family member:

If we are, as people say,
but, the creatures of the day,
let me live, when we must part,
longer still in your heart.

You we all the God I knew,
I was faithful unt’ you.

Some day in time,
when all is done,
we will be again, together as one.
We will cross the bridge into the fields without end,
paw and hand, my very best friend.

    Oh Debbie,

The poem was beautiful. Everyone who has had a faithful friend and lost them knows the utter sadness and pain you experience with the loss of your best friend. It just makes me want to hug our puppies closer. Thanks for sharing.

Just looking at the pictures of your Goldies and I came upon the poem for Buddy. I lost Kelly Clare last March 19th. I am taking comfort knowing she is with Buddy. I have since adopted another Golden that I named Kerry. I don’t know what I would do without her. She brings me so much happiness.

Mary — I am so sorry for your loss. It is difficult to lose our “furry” family members. They need to live longer! :-) I am glad you have found Kerry to love and help bring you comfort. New family members do not replace our lost loved ones, but certainly help to fill the void and allow us to continue loving these wonderful dogs.
